“Jesus Never Fails” I
n this uncertain election season, people look for unfailing sources of wisdom and strength. It’s comforting to know that, for well
over 70 years, Sandy Cove Ministries has been a testament to the truth that, as its slogan proclaims, “Jesus Never Fails.” During that time, Sandy Cove has helped people connect with God and each other, in order to be transformed into the image of Christ through His Word, His creation and community. No matter the political scene, Jesus never fails to deliver on His promises.
Recently a family visited Sandy Cove as part of Operation
Oasis, a program where recently deployed military personnel can enjoy any of Sandy Cove’s programs, completely free of charge. Te family’s teenage son was still working through the emotional hardships of having his father deploy and was not yet willing to open up, making it clear that he didn’t want to be there.
“Around 11 o’clock one night, we went out to find our son and make sure he wasn’t getting into trouble,” the boy’s father testifies. “We walked past the room where the teen program meets and noticed a kid who looked like our son. Great — we found him, and he wasn’t getting into trouble. But what we saw next blew us away. A group of kids and staff counselors had circled around our son and were praying over him! Where do you go on vacation and that happens?”
“I am so grateful to be part of Sandy Cove Ministries, where that happens,” says Stephen Weaver, President, reflecting on the military father’s story.

During the Great Depression in the 1930s, George Palmer, a New Jersey pastor, saw the opportunity and hosted one of the earliest Christian radio broadcasts in the country. Te overwhelming response to the Morning Cheer broadcast provided Palmer with more ministry opportunities, including the purchase of 220 acres on
the headwaters of the Chesapeake Bay in North East, Maryland in 1946. Tis acreage allowed him to establish a summer camp meeting facility; Sandy Cove was born!
Today, Sandy Cove serves over 30,000 guests annually. Among those guests is Kim, a single mother. “At Sandy Cove, I am given a new peace, a new hope, a refill of what I need to continue in my walk with God,” she says. “My children see what it is like for families to interact with each other by seeing godly men with their families, being given biblical direction in their groups, and through the freedom to make new friends and be with old ones. We have time to rest and reconnect as a family. Tis is the legacy I hope to give my children: a place where we can meet each year to spend time with God, reflect and refuel.”
When the time comes for you, your church group or organization to book a retreat or to join in on some innovative ministry programs, Sandy Cove offers summer camps for kids, couples’ events, father-and-son “man camp”, mother-and-daughter events, and more.
